Kabbalah Basics

Donation according to Kabbalah is giving for the sake of Heaven only. That means without any expectation of return. This explanation is given because if a person considers the possibility of any revenue or profit through giving a donation to charity, in actual fact they cancel out the fruit of their action, not only in this but in other worlds.

There is a great story told about a child and a radio tape. A person, who deals with charity and food provision, received a telephone call from an acquaintance. They had known each other for a long time, and the friend told him that he had a small radio tape that he had just repaired and was interested in donating to a deserving cause. This good person told his friend that he felt that he was in a better position to know someone who would receive this tape that could really use it. The person who was involved in charity work was pleased to think that he had been given yet another opportunity to help the needy. He was pleased to go round to his friend’s home a few days later to pick up the radio tape. Immediately upon leaving his friend, with the radio tape tucked under his arm. The man of charity set off on his way to one of the families under his care, who received a weekly food package through him.  When he had delivered the package, he asked if there were any small children in the family, although he knew full well that there were.  When the smallest boy in the family stepped forward, he told him that he had something really special to give him. It was the recently repaired radio tape. He told the small boy that it was his to use and do what he wanted with it. The child’s eyes lit up with a happiness that the man of charity had never seen before.

This simple act of charity moved this man to the brink of tears. That such a simple article, which should have been confined to the garbage dump, could cause such elation in the human heart

There are many great donation and charity stories. But this one especially maybe give some insight – that sometimes even seems like useless things, can transform to something truly extraordinary.
